He specializes in behavioral neurology and oversees multiple clinical trials focused on Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
Dr. Grant's educational background includes:
- BS from University of Notre Dame (2006)
- MA from Indiana University (2012)
- MD from Indiana University (2012)
- Neurology Residency at Northwestern University, McGaw Medical Center (2016)
- Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship at Northwestern University (2018)
Dr. Grant is board certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. His research focuses on Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, and related neurodegenerative conditions, with particular interest in clinical trials, biomarker development, and genetic aspects of these disorders. He is actively involved in several major research initiatives including the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) and the ALLFTD Consortium.
Dr. Grant's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on frontotemporal lobar degeneration, with particular emphasis on genetic variants (C9orf72, MAPT, GRN), biomarker development (particularly neurofilament light), and advanced neuroimaging techniques. His work spans both basic science investigations of disease mechanisms and clinical applications for diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Grant holds leadership positions in several professional organizations:
- Member, ALLFTD Clinical Evaluation Squad (ACES) (2023 - Present)
- Member, Alzheimer Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS) Steering Committee (2018 - Present)

- Member, American Academy of Neurology (2013 - Present)
- Member, American Medical Association (2006 - 2021)
Dr. Grant leads multiple significant clinical trials including the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative 3 (ADNI3), the Longitudinal Early-onset Alzheimer's Disease Study (LEADS), the ALLFTD study, and several therapeutic trials testing investigational drugs for Alzheimer's and frontotemporal dementia. His research is supported by major funding initiatives focused on understanding and treating neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Grant is affiliated with the Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease and the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS), where he contributes to interdisciplinary research efforts aimed at advancing our understanding and treatment of cognitive disorders.
