Dr. Ian Elsmore is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Service Sector Management at Sheffield Business School, Sheffield Hallam University since 2008. His academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Sheffield's Department of Town and Regional Planning (2009) and ESRC-funded research on Actor-Network Theory applied to historic building adaptation. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (2010) from Sheffield Hallam.
- Research Focus: Relationship between physical/social spaces, sustainable hospitality development, and space utilization.
- Collaborations: Active partnership with Nottingham Trent University on hospitality and sustainable development projects.
- Teaching: Module leader for Research Methods, Small Business Management, and Human Resource Management. Dissertation leader for postgraduate programs in Hospitality, Tourism, Events, and Food.
His research explores how spatial design influences social behavior in hospitality contexts, with recent work focusing on Ukraine university support via simulation platforms. He currently supervises multiple doctoral students and serves on the Faculty Research Ethics Committee.
