Professor Ian Dewing is a Professor of Accounting at the University of East Anglia's Norwich Business School, part of the Accounting, Finance and Governance (AFG) group. He holds roles as Academic Director of Partnerships at the university level and Chair of Examiners across all taught programs at Norwich Business School. He also serves as Deputy Chair of the Senate Student Discipline Committee.
His research focuses on auditing, corporate governance, financial services regulation, and regulatory frameworks post-financial crisis. He has secured research funding from ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA, and the Actuarial Profession, leading projects such as 'The Role of Auditors in Swiss Banking Supervision' and 'Audit, Supervision and Risk in Financial Services'.
Teaching responsibilities include organizing the third-year Auditing & Accountability module. He supervises PhD students using qualitative methods in auditing and related fields. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through projects addressing financial sector governance and risk management.
Professional activities include examining PhD theses at Essex, Oxford Brookes, and Manchester Universities, and serving as an external examiner for taught programs at institutions like BPP University College and Durham University.
