Stephen Donnelly

Stephen Donnelly is Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) for the Department of Accounting and Financial Management and Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Accounting degree at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University. He specializes in financial and management accounting education, with over 20 years of teaching experience including roles at BPP (Professional Education) and with UK professional bodies like ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, and ICAS.

His research interests focus on the intersection of accounting education and pedagogy, particularly the challenges in skills acquisition versus knowledge acquisition for professional accountants. He holds a DBA in Accountancy (2024) and an MBA (2002), and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, 2018).
