Iain Kitchener

Iain Kitchener is the Head of the School of Education at the University of Greenwich, part of the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences. His academic career began with a BSc in Psychology with Sociology, followed by work in community mental health. He transitioned into education through a PGCE in Primary Education with QTS (University of London Institute of Education) and later earned an MA in Education with an endorsement in e-learning, focusing on technology adoption in education.

Awards: Recognized as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2014–present) and a former University Associate Teaching Fellow, highlighting his excellence in teaching and educational leadership.

Leadership & Roles: Iain has held senior leadership positions including Interim Head of School of Education, Deputy Head, and leadership roles in teacher education programs. He contributes externally as an external examiner for Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and is engaged with the Universities’ Council for the Education of Teachers (UCET).
