Ia Eradze is an associate professor at the Georgian Institute for Public Affairs (GIPA) and a CERGE-EI Foundation teaching fellow. She also serves as a researcher at the Institute for Social and Cultural Research, Ilia State University (Georgia), and is part of the Legacies of Communism research network at the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History (ZZF) in Potsdam. She holds a PhD in social and economic sciences from the University of Kassel. Her research focuses on political economy, economic development, central banking, and Georgia's financial history, with a particular emphasis on dollarization dynamics in post-socialist states.
Her 2023 monograph, Unravelling Dollarization Persistence: the case of Georgia, published by Routledge, analyzes the historical and political-economic roots of dollarization in Georgia and its implications for macroeconomic stability. She has also contributed to peer-reviewed journals like the Cambridge Journal of Economics and is affiliated with institutions such as Harvard University, Trinity College, Sciences Po, and the University of Vienna through visiting scholar programs. Her work addresses critical issues like monetary sovereignty, currency hierarchy, and policy responses to dollarization-related vulnerabilities in developing economies.
