Prof. Dr. I Nengah Suparta serves as Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Professor of Mathematics at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) in Singaraja, Bali. His academic leadership drives teacher education reform through the CRC 990 project "Teacher education for society: Making EFForTS knowledge available for Indonesia," where he spearheads testing, evaluation, and nationwide implementation of educational innovations.
His research focuses on Mathematics Education and Teacher Training within Indonesian contexts, emphasizing Problem-Based Learning and Real-World Problem Solving. He pioneers the integration of EFForTS (Ecological and Socioeconomic Functions of Tropical Lowland Rainforest Transformation Systems) knowledge into curricula through Open Educational Resources, bridging academic research with societal needs via transformative pedagogy.
As a core partner in the Professional Learning Community, he directs the development of open-access educational materials to disseminate EFForTS frameworks across Indonesian universities. His work provides critical scientific guidance on systemic reforms within Indonesia's teacher education infrastructure, targeting curriculum modernization through evidence-based educational innovation.
