Professor Hélène Lambert is the Director of the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness at Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne. She holds a Professorial role within the Law Department and has over three decades of international academic and consultancy experience. Her work focuses on refugee law, statelessness, international law, and comparative legal approaches.
- Education: PhD in Comparative Asylum Law (University of Exeter, 1992), Licence en Droit and Maitrise de Droit Public (University of Strasbourg, 1987–1988).
- Previous Positions: Professor of Law at UTS (2019–2023), University of Wollongong (2017–2019), and University of Westminster (2010–2020). Earlier roles included Senior Lecturer at Brunel University and Lecturer at the University of Exeter and University of the West of England.
Research Interests: Driven by comparative analysis of national law and human rights standards, particularly in addressing statelessness and refugee protection. Her work intersects international law, transnational legal frameworks, and policy advocacy.
Consultancy & Fellowships: Consultant for UNHCR, Council of Europe, and European Commission. Held roles at the Council of Europe, Refugee Studies Centre (Oxford), and as Dyason Fellow at Melbourne Law School.
