Héctor Cebolla Boado is a Researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in the Department of Population at the Instituto de Economía, Geografía y Demografía (IEGD). He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Oxford (Nuffield College) and the Instituto Juan March in Madrid. His research focuses on the social determinants of child development, migration impacts on education and health, and quantitative methodologies.
He has served as a tenured professor at the UNED and visiting professor at universities like Bielefeld, Carlos III Madrid, and Pompeu Fabra. From 2019–2023, he directed the General Innovation and Social Strategy Office in Madrid’s municipal government. His work includes over 80 peer-reviewed articles and collaborative projects on global migration, climate change, and education policy.
Key research interests include preschool education’s historical impact, immigrant mental resilience, climate health effects, and transnational educational aspirations. He leads EU-funded projects like EqualStrength (analyzing discrimination and hate crimes) and MIX-EDUC-MIG (examining migration-education strategies).
His methods expertise includes longitudinal analysis, causal inference, and mixed-methods approaches. He frequently collaborates with NGOs like Fundación Once and contributes to public debates through media and blogs like Piedras de Papel.
