Hyungjoo Kim is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Design at the Patti & Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art and Performance, Purdue University. She joined Purdue in 2019 after previously teaching there for 10 years, and has also held faculty positions at the University of Wisconsin and institutions in Korea.

Research Interests
Professor Kim's creative research centers on Visual Communication and Graphic Design, with specialized expertise in protest poster design, eco-communication, and socially engaged illustration. Her internationally exhibited work critically addresses peace initiatives, environmental crises, and human rights through bold visual narratives that bridge Korean and global design traditions.
