Hyung Koo Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Technologies at HEC Montréal, specializing in IT project management, decision-making processes in IT projects, and IT personnel management. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University and an M.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. His research focuses on project escalation dynamics, decision-making under uncertainty, and improving IT governance practices.

His research interests include analyzing how goal sources influence commitment escalation in IT projects, leveraging social media analytics for disaster communication effectiveness, and evaluating cloud-based tools in information systems education. His most cited works investigate disaster tweet credibility through heuristic-systematic models and the role of perspective-taking in de-escalating product launch commitments.
