Hyosoon Yim is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies (KRSS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Affiliated with the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, their work focuses on leveraging sport for health promotion, analyzing sport engagement through social media, and advancing methodological rigor in sport-related interventions. Yim holds a PhD in Sport Management from Florida State University, alongside an MS in Sport Management and a dual BA in German Literature and Marketing & Logistics Management from Chung-Ang University.
Research interests include applying meta-analytical techniques to sport management, exploring mental health outcomes linked to sport participation among marginalized populations, and investigating legal dimensions of sport governance. Their recent publications address public mental health through sport science and legal challenges in high school athletics during the pandemic.
Teaching responsibilities include courses like Analytical Methods in Sport (RSM 355), Sport Marketing (RSM 440), and Special Topics in Sport Analytics (RSM 580). Yim contributes to the KRSS research ecosystem through applied statistical methodologies and collaborations in sport policy evaluation.
