Hyemi Shin is a Lecturer in Responsible Management at the School of Business and Management, Royal Holloway, University of London. She joined in January 2022, with prior roles as Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at Coventry University and Northumbria University. Her research focuses on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability, examining governance dynamics, non-Western national contexts, and micro-level CSR practices. She holds a PhD from ESSEC Business School, Paris (2016), with earlier degrees from Yonsei University, South Korea.
Education background includes a PhD in Business/Management from ESSEC Business School (2012–2016), an MPhil in Business/Management (2010–2012), and dual B.A./B.S. degrees in English Literature and Applied Statistics from Yonsei University (2006–2010).
Her research interests explore CSR as an organizational field, emphasizing governance structures, transnational vs. local CSR practices, and the role of CSR professionals and social entrepreneurs. She has contributed to projects like the EU-funded GETM3: Global Entrepreneurial Talent Management (2016–2022) and leads research on DEI practitioners' barriers and self-identity.
Notable awards include the Best Paper in the Social In Management (SIM) division at the 83rd Academy of Management Annual Meeting (2023). She has collaborated internationally, visiting institutions like Bayes Business School and University of Ljubljana, and actively participates in conferences such as the EGOS Colloquium.
Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in Education (SDG 4) and Responsible Consumption (SDG 12). She has published 18 peer-reviewed articles and supervised research projects, though no listed advisees. She also serves as a Guest Lecturer at Inha University.
