Huy Tran

Dr. Huy Tran is a Lecturer and Research Associate at Bielefeld University's Faculty of Sociology, Department of Transnationalization and Social Anthropology. He is currently working in the ERC Grant Project 'Welfare Struggles' under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Minh Nguyen, focusing on transnational migration patterns and their intersections with gender, sexuality, and mobility. His work bridges sociology and area studies, particularly examining Vietnamese migrant communities in Japan and Germany.

Tran's research explores transnational migration dynamics through multiple lenses: gender and sexuality (analyzing how Vietnamese male migrants negotiate identity), migration brokerage (educational intermediaries' role in student migration), and comparative social policies (foreign migrant accommodation in Japan vs. Germany). His work contributes to the understanding of contemporary Asian diaspora communities.
