Huma Ahmed

Dr. Huma Ahmed is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where she joined the faculty in 2024 as a Critical Care attending. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine.

Her educational background includes:

• Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine: SUNY Downstate Medical Center

Dr. Ahmed's research focuses on pulmonary diseases, particularly COPD, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, and pulmonary fibrosis, with an emphasis on the role of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A). Her work aims to understand molecular mechanisms in these conditions to develop better treatments.
