Hui (Cathy) Liu is a Professor of Sociology at Purdue University and Director of the Center on Aging and the Life Course. Previously, she served as Professor of Sociology and founding Director of the Family and Population Health Laboratory at Michigan State University.
Education:

- M.S. in Statistics, University of Texas at Austin
- Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography, University of Texas at Austin
Research Focus: Dr. Liu investigates social determinants of population health through an aging and life course perspective. Her work examines how marriage and family processes interact with health outcomes across the lifespan, with emphasis on vulnerable groups including older adults and sexual/gender minorities. She develops theoretical frameworks to understand health disparities and well-being dynamics.
