Huang Chia-Yuan is a PhD Candidate in Geography at University College London (UCL) and concurrently serves as a Research Project Officer at the SOAS Centre of Taiwan Studies. She holds BSc and MA degrees from National Taiwan University and has conducted PhD research in the UK since 2014. Her work focuses on migration trajectories, transnational experiences, and the intersection of gender, work, and mobility in global contexts. She was a visiting PhD student at the National University of Singapore (2016–2017).
Her research interests include young adults' migration patterns, transnational families, and gender dynamics in cross-border movements. Key publications explore Taiwanese migrants in Hong Kong, Singapore, and London, addressing challenges faced by expatriate families and skilled labor mobility. She has contributed to journals like The China Review and Journal of Population Studies, and co-edited GIS Notebook of Taiwan’s Population Map.
Her PhD dissertation examines Taiwanese youth migration to global cities, analyzing transnational experiences through a global mobility lens. She has translated academic works on geography and gender studies, further enriching cross-cultural scholarship.
