Huan Liu is the Regents’ Professor in the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence, part of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University. His research focuses on data mining, machine learning, social computing, and AI ethics. He leads the Data Mining and Machine Learning Lab and is affiliated with ASU’s Institute for Social Science Research.
Dr. Liu’s work bridges theoretical advancements and practical applications, including causal inference frameworks, socially responsible AI, and social media analysis. Notable contributions include:
- Development of social media mining techniques for misinformation detection and public sentiment analysis.
- Pioneering feature selection algorithms for high-dimensional data analysis.
- Advocacy for AI ethics, particularly in mitigating bias and ensuring transparency in machine learning systems.
