معرفی
Dr. Hua Cai is a Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine. Her research focuses on cardiovascular biology, redox signaling, and endothelial dysfunction, with particular emphasis on oxidative stress mechanisms in atherosclerosis, hypertension, and diabetes complications.
Her research interests include:
- Cardiovascular Biology
- Redox Signaling
- Endothelial Dysfunction
- Atherosclerosis
- Hypertension
- Diabetes Complications
- Pulmonary Hypertension
- Aortic Aneurysm
- e-Cigarette Toxicity
- Vascular Inflammation
Analysis of her 2022-2025 publications reveals dominant themes: novel therapies for aortic aneurysms using folic acid/nifedipine combinations; pulmonary hypertension reversal via endothelial DHFR targeting; e-cigarette-induced endothelial damage in youth; and SARS-CoV-2 vascular complications. Her approach integrates genetic mouse models (NOX1 KO, apoE/NOX1 DKO), clinical cohorts, and redox biomarker development (e.g., circulating BH4 for aneurysm diagnosis).
Dr. Cai directs the Cai Laboratory at UCLA, which employs multidisciplinary methods to study vascular repair mechanisms. Current projects include netrin-1 derivatives for vascular regeneration, epigenetic changes post-cardiac surgery, and environmental impacts of e-cigarettes/air pollution on endothelial health. Her team combines molecular biology, physiology, and translational research to identify therapeutic targets for cardiovascular diseases.
