Hsuan Huang

Dr. Hsuan Huang is an Associate Professor of Public Relations at the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC), Florida A&M University (FAMU). She holds a Ph.D. in Communication (Public Relations) from the University of North Carolina’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media, an M.A. in Journalism from Ohio State University, and a B.S. in Mass Communication from Tamkang University. Her research focuses on health communication and campaigns addressing health disparities in minority groups, particularly African American communities. She actively contributes to peer-reviewed journals like Health Communication and serves on the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Digital Health’s Lifestyle and Behavior section.

Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Public Relations Campaigns, Social Media Analytics, and Integrated Marketing Communication. She advises the FAMU chapter of the National Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). Recent awards include the SoTL Academy Fellowship (2024) and FAMU Faculty Research Award (2021-2022).

Her recent research explores pandemic-related behavioral intentions, risk perception in HBCU students, and the role of trust in vaccination decisions. She also publishes on communication technology fundamentals and message tailoring strategies in health campaigns.
