Hsin-Hsin Liang is a Professor of Chinese in the General Faculty at the University of Virginia. She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Michigan and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language and Chinese Literature from the University of Wisconsin. Her work focuses on the practical application of pedagogical theories to teaching Chinese as a foreign language, emphasizing curriculum design and teacher training.
She has co-authored multiple influential textbooks, including the Success in China: Mandarin for Living series (2014–2018) and the Routledge Advanced Chinese Multimedia Course (2009, 2014). Her research also explores immersion learning and technology integration in language education. As Executive Program Director of the UVA-in-Shanghai Chinese Language Program since 2006, she has transformed it into a platform for both student learning and graduate teacher training.
