Jianling Yue

Jianling Yue is a Lecturer and Chinese Minor Advisor in the Department of Communication and Media at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She specializes in Chinese linguistics, pedagogy, and second language acquisition, with a focus on integrating virtual reality and speech recognition technologies into language education. Her work includes curriculum development, teacher training, and international collaboration through programs like the Mandarin Project.

Awarded for excellence in teaching, she has received the Faculty Achievement Award (2014, 2019), HASS Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (2019), and was selected for the 2020 Last Lecture Series. Her research spans Chinese character evolution, grammar instruction, and cultural pedagogy, with publications including textbooks, cultural guides, and peer-reviewed papers.

Yue leads initiatives such as the Chinese Mentor Program and Conversation Corner & Mandarin Club (CCMC), while contributing to the Cognitive and Immersive Systems Lab's Mandarin Project, exploring immersive VR environments for language learning.
