Hrvoje Miletic

Hrvoje Miletic is Professor at the University of Bergen's Department of Biomedicine and Consultant Neuropathologist at Haukeland University Hospital. As Principal Investigator of the Brain Tumor & Microenvironment Research Group, he leads research on malignant glioblastomas, focusing on tumor-microenvironment interactions and treatment resistance mechanisms.

His pioneering research discovered tumor microtubes facilitating mitochondrial transfer from astrocytes to cancer cells, enhancing tumor metabolism and growth. This work, featured in National Geographic, has significant implications for understanding glioblastoma progression and developing targeted therapies.

Current projects investigate tumor network disruption strategies and gene therapies to activate immune responses. Miletic's clinical work provides direct access to patient samples for translational research. He teaches neuropathology and supervises graduate students in cancer biology.
