Dr. Howard Lin is a Professor of Global Management Studies and Director of the Canada-China Institute for Business & Development at Toronto Metropolitan University. He holds a PhD in Marketing/International Business from Oklahoma State University and has held academic roles at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Windsor. His research focuses on international business dynamics, immigrant entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural management. Lin has published extensively in top journals like Strategic Management Journal and Journal of International Business Studies, and was recognized as a top 90 scholar in international business research in 2006 by Michigan State University.
Lin’s career includes roles as an economist at the Bank of China, director at the Center for International Trade Development, and founder of the Centre for the Study of Canada-Asia Business. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship and has held leadership positions in professional organizations like the Academy of International Business Canada Chapter.
His research interests span international joint ventures, emerging markets, and innovation commercialization. Over 20 years of work has analyzed topics such as cross-border HRM practices, circular agriculture sustainability, and the impact of migration networks on trade. Lin’s awards include Ryerson University’s Research & Creativity Award (2010) and the University of Windsor’s Research Excellence Award (2003).
