معرفی
Horst Vogel is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Chemistry at EPFL, affiliated with the School of Basic Sciences (SB). He holds a Dipl. in Chemistry from the University of Würzburg (1974) and a Ph.D. from the University of Göttingen (1978). His research focuses on membrane receptor structure, biophysical self-assembly, and biosensor development using micro/nanotechnology. He has supervised 15 EPFL theses and contributed extensively to drug discovery, cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), and GPCR signaling studies.
- Education: Dipl. in Chemistry (1974, University of Würzburg), Ph.D. (1978, Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen)
- Key Projects: Structural analysis of ion channels (e.g., 5-HT3A receptors), development of cryo-EM methods, and membrane protein drug screening.
His work bridges experimental and computational biophysics, emphasizing mechanistic insights into receptor activation and ligand interactions. He has pioneered techniques like single-vesicle assays and microfluidic systems for studying membrane processes.
