Horst Pick

Horst Pick serves as a Senior Scientist at EPFL with primary affiliation in the Ludwig Group (GR-LUD) within the Institute of Civil Engineering (IIE) of the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC). He concurrently holds teaching roles in the Doctoral School of Chemistry and Life Sciences (EDCH-ENS) and School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (SCGC-ENS), plus administrative duties in SCGC-GE.

His research bridges biotechnology and medical applications, emphasizing:

• Pharmaceutical biotechnology for therapeutic development
• Biosensor engineering using chemosensory receptors
• Biochemical analysis techniques
• Medical therapy innovation

Dr. Pick mentors doctoral students including Wang Yang (current) and past candidates Baud Olivia, Dahoun Thamani, and Zanchetta Enio Daniel. His work receives funding from CTI/Innosuisse, Swiss National Science Foundation, EPFL-Nestlé, EU programs, and other foundations.
