Hooman Mehdizadeh Rad is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Charles Darwin University, serving as Coordinator of the Master of Engineering program. He holds Chartered statuses in Mechanical Engineering (CPEng, NER, MIEAus) and Project Management. His research focuses on heat mitigation in tropical urban landscapes, solar energy systems, HVAC design, and building energy simulation. His PhD work centered on designing thin film solar cells.
Education: B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, PhD in Thin Film Solar Cell Design. Awards include the 2022 Sir George Julius Medal (National), 2022 Young Mechanical Engineer of the Year, and 2023 NT Emerging Professional Engineer of the Year Award.
Research emphasizes solar cell efficiency optimization (perovskite, organic), materials durability, and urban climate adaptation. Recent articles explore FRP-concrete bond durability, machine learning for composite materials, and interfacial impacts on perovskite solar cells. He leads projects on urban innovation design monitoring and perovskite cell performance measurement.
