Honghui Chen

Honghui Chen is a Professor of Finance at the University of Central Florida, affiliated with the College of Business and the Department of Finance and Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from Virginia Tech and holds an M.S. in Statistics from the same institution. His research focuses on market seasonality, short sales, mutual fund performance, and market microstructure, with publications in top journals including the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.

Dr. Chen's research interests span investments, market anomalies, portfolio management, and international finance. His recent studies examine soft information in portfolio management, political sensitivity in hedge funds, and geographical aspects of information acquisition. Trends in his publications show a consistent focus on behavioral finance, investor decision-making, and market efficiency.

He has received numerous awards, including the Research Incentive Award (2012), Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (2008, 2012), and the Journal of Financial Research Best Paper Award (2004).

Dr. Chen actively contributes to academic service as an ad hoc referee for multiple journals and has secured research grants, such as the 2006 grant from the Real Estate Research Institute for studying REIT short interest markets.
