Hong Yang

Hong Yang, MD, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Physiology at Meharry Medical College School of Medicine. Her research focuses on cardiovascular biology with particular emphasis on women's health, high-density lipoproteins, endothelial cells, and endoplasmic reticulum stress.

Dr. Yang's research interests center on understanding the molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis, lipoprotein metabolism, and cholesterol regulation. Her work has significant implications for understanding cardiovascular disease in women, particularly examining how defective isoforms of ApoE induce atherogenesis through unfolded protein responses.
