Holly Eva Ryan

Dr Holly Eva Ryan is a Reader in International Relations and Director of Research at Queen Mary University of London's School of Politics and International Relations. She holds a BSc from City University London, MSc from LSE, and PhD from City University London. Her research bridges visual aesthetics and global politics, focusing on non-state actors like artists and NGOs.

Research interests include sensory politics, artistic activism, Latin American studies, and international solidarity mechanisms. She leads the ESRC-funded 'Art of International Friendship' project and co-directs the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (CRoLAC). Her monograph Political Street Art (Routledge, 2017) analyzes protest art in Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina.

Key achievements include a 2023 Research Award nomination, ESRC grants, and public exhibitions like the LINES project. She supervises PhD students on topics ranging from Colombian peace processes to Burmese diaspora art.
