Dr. Isadora Cruxen is a Lecturer in Business and Society at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), affiliated with the School of Business and Management. She holds a PhD from MIT (2022) and serves as Programme Director for MSc programs in International Business and Politics and Development and International Business. Her research bridges political economy, sustainable development, and data activism, focusing on Latin America and Brazil.
Education: PhD in Political Economy, Development and Planning (MIT, 2022); Master in City Planning (MIT, 2016); Bachelor's in Political Science (University of Brasília, 2011). Awards include the Martin Family Society of Fellows for Sustainability (2019) and the GPEIG Best Student Paper Award (2018).
Research interests include financialization, water governance, participatory methods, and gender-based violence monitoring. She co-leads the 'Data Against Feminicide' project at MIT's Data + Feminism Lab, developing AI tools for activism. Active in QMUL's CLaSP Blog (Centre on Labour, Sustainability and Global Production) and CRoLAC (Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean).
Teaches courses on World Economy and Sustainable Finance. Supervises PhD students focusing on financialization and platform work. Engages in public discussions on AI ethics and participatory technology design.
