Holly Easttom

Holly Easttom is an Assistant Professor of Journalism at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU), where she has taught since 2002 (initially as an adjunct, full-time since 2006). She advises the student newspaper The Bison and the OBU yearbook The Yahnseh, emphasizing hands-on learning by relocating her office to the student learning lab.

• Education: B.A. and M.A. from the University of Central Oklahoma.
• Teaching Focus: English composition, news writing, reporting, editing, yearbook production, and speech/communication courses.

Her research and creative work span literary analysis (e.g., Emily Dickinson, Chaucer), existential themes in media, and journalism pedagogy. She has presented on topics like social media in news, citizen journalism, and Christian journalism at conferences.

She is a member of organizations including the Journalism Education Association, OIPA, CMA, SPJ, EPA, and AEJMC.

Easttom also teaches creative writing and poetry, with publications in journals such as Allegheny Review and Potpourri. Her personal interests include cats and family time.
