Hollis Ulaky is a Lecturer of Music at Winthrop University's College of Visual and Performing Arts, Conservatory of Music. She has been faculty since 1976 and serves as principal oboist with the Charlotte Symphony since 1974. Her professional background includes performances with Opera '68 Festival (San Juan), Wheeling Symphony, and various international music festivals.
Education: B.M. from Carnegie Mellon University, studying under renowned oboists including Robert Bloom and John Mack.
Research interests focus on classical music performance pedagogy, chamber music ensemble development, and historical performance techniques. She co-founded the chamber group RHODORA and maintains an active performance schedule.
Honors include recognition as a Yamaha Performing Artist. Her commissioned work includes performing Ray Weidener's 'Caprice' for the Rhodora Wind Trio.
