Holger Baumann is a Lecturer and Research Assistant at the Department of Philosophy, University of Zurich, affiliated with the Philosophical Faculty. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Zurich (2012) and an MA in Philosophy and German Philology from the University of Göttingen (2004). His research focuses on action theory, philosophical psychology, normative ethics, applied ethics, and ethics of communication. Key areas include the moral status of children, human dignity in biomedical contexts, and triage ethics during public health crises.
He has held roles including Postdoctoral Researcher (SNSF-funded project on paternalism and children's moral status), Research Associate at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics, and contributor to the Network Human Dignity. His teaching includes courses on applied ethics and ethics in medicine. His publications address topics like triage justice, organ trafficking ethics, and ideals in human enhancement evaluation.
Baumann serves as a reviewer for journals such as *Ethics*, *Ethical Theory and Moral Practice*, and *Journal of Practical Philosophy*. His interdisciplinary work bridges philosophy, psychology, and bioethics, emphasizing practical ethical frameworks for contemporary societal challenges.
