Holger Arning is a part-time Researcher in the Department of Medieval and Modern Church History at the University of Münster. Since July 2025, he works part-time while coordinating the NRW Research College RePliV on religious pluralism from 2021–2025. His career includes science communication roles since 2011 and prior full-time research from 2005–2020. Arning earned his PhD at Münster (2002–2006) with a Cusanuswerk scholarship, holds a Magister from Münster (2000) in Communication, History, and Biology, and previously worked at the Catholic weekly Kirche und Leben (2000–2002).
His research spans:
