Hisham Jashami is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University, part of the College of Engineering. His teaching focuses on undergraduate civil engineering courses such as senior design, pavement design, and highway engineering, emphasizing active learning and communication skills. He is a certified Road Safety Professional Engineer with expertise in transportation safety, autonomous vehicles, and data-driven methodologies. Dr. Jashami’s research explores multimodal intersection safety, driver-bicyclist interactions, and innovative traffic control systems, supported by grants from agencies like the Federal Highway Administration and state DOTs. His work integrates driving and bicycling simulators to assess safety and user behavior, aiming to improve connected and automated transportation systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University, with minors in Statistics and additional degrees from institutions in Turkey and Iraq. Notable contributions include over 100 peer-reviewed publications and technical reports, focusing on intersection design, traffic data validation, and safety interventions. His research addresses emerging challenges in urban mobility, including commercial vehicle loading zones and bicycle infrastructure safety.
