Dr. Hiruy Gebreegziabher is a Lecturer (Teaching and Research) at the School of Law and Business, The University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA), Fremantle. He holds an LLB and LLM from Addis Ababa University and a PhD in Human Rights Law from Monash University. His research focuses on Human Rights Law, Anti-Terrorism Law, Criminal Law, and Modern Slavery. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences globally.

Research interests include the human rights compatibility of Ethiopia's Anti-Terrorism Proclamation, surveillance practices, and labor law. His work has contributed to legal reforms in Ethiopia, including amendments to anti-terrorism legislation.
Awards include scholarships from the University of Pretoria, University of British Columbia, and Ghent University, as well as multiple Best Instructor awards at the University of Gondar.
His teaching spans Criminal Law, Employment Law, and Human Rights Law at Monash, La Trobe, and the University of Gondar. He has led legal aid initiatives and co-designed an LL.M. curriculum in International Human Rights Law.
