Hiroshi Oda

Professor Hiroshi Oda is the Sir Ernest Satow Professor of Japanese Law at University College London's Faculty of Laws. He specializes in Japanese and Russian Commercial Law and holds concurrent appointments at the College d’Europe (Brugge). His research focuses on Environmental engineering and Urban and regional planning, with interdisciplinary insights into legal frameworks.

• Education: LL.D from the University of Tokyo (1988)

Professor Oda previously held the Chair of Russian Law at the University of Tokyo and was a visiting professor at Cornell Law School (1988–1998) and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He serves as an arbitrator at the Moscow International Court of Commercial Arbitration and Stockholm Institute of Arbitration, and is a qualified attorney in Japan.

He chairs the Russo-Japanese Lawyers' Association and is a membre associe of the Academy of Comparative Law.
