Hirofumi Fukuyama

Hirofumi Fukuyama is an Honorary Professor at the University of Dundee's School of Business and holds the title of Professor Emeritus at Fukuoka University (1995–2024). He earned a PhD in Economics from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale), USA. His expertise spans Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Shephard’s Production Theory, Bank Performance, Environmental Economics, and Sustainability. He serves as Editor of The Data Envelopment Analysis Journal, Associate Editor of Omega, and Editorial Board member of Sustainability. His research has led to over 400 citations and an h-index of 33.

Research Interests: Fukuyama's work focuses on optimizing efficiency in banking systems using DEA, analyzing production processes, and addressing environmental and sustainability challenges. His recent studies investigate the interplay between corruption, democracy, and economic inefficiencies, as well as material flow management in financial institutions.
