Joe Zhu

Joe Zhu is a Professor of Operations Analytics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Foisie Business School, directing the WBS Doctoral Programs. He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (1998). An internationally recognized expert in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), his research focuses on performance evaluation, benchmarking, and productivity modeling. He is Editor-in-Chief of OMEGA and has authored/co-edited over 15 books on DEA, including the influential Data Envelopment Analysis: Let the Data Speak for Themselves. His DEAFrontier software, an Excel add-in, is widely used for DEA modeling. Zhu has secured grants from the KPMG Foundation, NIH, and VA, with over 38,000 Google Scholar citations. Honors include the Chang Jiang Scholar Chair Professorship (China's most prestigious academic honor) and JSPS Fellowship. He has served as a PhD advisor globally and co-edited special journal issues on DEA, sustainability, and productivity analytics.
