Conceição Silva

Conceição Silva is a Professor at Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) of the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP), where she joined the faculty in 2015 and became a full professor in 2019. She concurrently serves as Associate Dean for Research and Director of CEGE (Center for Studies in Management and Economics) since June 2020, having previously chaired CPBS's Scientific Council (2018-2020).

Her academic credentials include a Bachelor's in Management from Catholic University of Portugal, a Master's in Management Science and Operations Research from the University of Warwick (UK) with DEA-focused thesis on English secondary schools, and a PhD in Management Science from Aston University (UK) analyzing banking agency efficiency through DEA.

Dr. Silva specializes in cross-sector efficiency and productivity analysis using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), with applied research spanning education, banking, retail, universities, regulation, and healthcare. Her methodology-driven work emphasizes benchmarking solutions developed through collaborations with Porto's Faculty of Engineering, Aston University, and UK consulting firms.

She leads three FCT-funded projects including BESP (school benchmarking) and HOBE (hospital benchmarking), while serving as Associate Editor for the Journal of Productivity Analysis and formerly for Omega (2015-2018). Her teaching includes Performance Management and Data Analysis modules in the Master's in Psychology and Human Resource Development program.

Through CEGE, she directs international research teams advancing DEA applications in public-sector optimization, with ongoing focus on healthcare and educational benchmarking infrastructure.
