Sara Baptista da Silva is a Researcher at the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) at the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP). She holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Porto, specializing in Pharmaceutical Technology. Her research focuses on biomedical applications of bio-based materials, including drug delivery systems, wound healing, and sustainable nanotechnology. She has contributed to over 80 publications, 2 patents, and led projects such as B4Brain and TEX4WOUND, emphasizing circular economy principles.
Educations: PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (University of Porto, 2015), Master’s in Applied Microbiology (UCP, 2009), Bachelor’s in Microbiology (UCP, 2007).
Research Interests: Her work integrates nanotechnology, biomaterials, and sustainable practices to address biomedical challenges. Key areas include chitosan-based systems for hemodialysis, antimicrobial agents in skincare, and neuroprotective strategies for neurodegenerative diseases. She advocates for green technologies, utilizing industrial by-products to create value-added biomedical solutions.
Awards: CBQF-UCP Merit Award (2021–2023), FULBRIGHT Prize (2023), and multiple productivity incentives. Active in editorial roles (Frontiers in Pharmacology) and professional associations.
