Dr. Hildegard Diemberger is the Research Director of the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit (MIASU) at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Pembroke College. She works at the intersection of social anthropology, Tibetology, and environmental studies, focusing on Tibetan-Mongolian cultural interactions and interdisciplinary climate research.

Dr. Diemberger has authored and edited significant publications, including When a Woman becomes a Religious Dynasty: the Samding Dorje Phagmo of Tibet (Columbia University Press, 2007), Tibetan Printing – Comparisons, Continuities and Change (Brill, 2016), and co-edited Cosmopolitical Ecologies across Asia (Routledge, 2021). These works explore Tibetan religious traditions, technological evolution of book culture, and cosmopolitical responses to environmental challenges.
She collaborates on research projects such as Transforming Technologies and Buddhist Book Culture and Tibetan and Mongolian Rare Books and Manuscripts, emphasizing digital humanities and material culture. Her methodological approach integrates fieldwork, oral history, and interdisciplinary analysis across anthropology, environmental studies, and humanities.
