Professor Hilary Ingham is the Head of the Department of Economics at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), where she holds a full professorship. Her research focuses on applied economics and econometrics, with a particular emphasis on flexible labor markets in Europe, labor market transitions, and the impact of international aid on educational outcomes. She also investigates financial development's role in economic growth, foreign direct investment dynamics, and productivity challenges in emerging economies.
Her work has explored the efficacy of short-time working schemes during the pandemic, the effects of FDI on productivity in Egypt, and cross-national comparisons of lifelong learning in Portugal and the UK. She is affiliated with the Economics Research Group and the Labour, Education and Health Economics research cluster at LUMS.
