Prof. dr. T.H. (Hetty) Zock is an Emeritus Professor of Religion and Mental Health at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society, specializing in Spiritual Care. She held the KSGV Professorship (2005–2023) and previously served as Professor of Psychology of Religion and Spiritual Care (1999–2014). Her expertise spans relational psychoanalysis, identity theory, and the intersection of art, imagination, and religion.
Education: PhD from Leiden University (1990), theology and French studies. Past roles include minister in the Dutch Reformed Church (1989–1994) and lecturer at Leiden University.
Research Interests: Spiritual care in pluralistic societies, chaplaincy practices, religious identity formation, and existential care. Her work addresses contemporary challenges in mental health and interdisciplinary care, particularly in secular contexts.
Recent Articles: Focus on chaplaincy roles in Dutch healthcare, Erikson's psychoanalytic theories, and spiritual care methodologies. Her 2025 study examines pluralistic contexts in outpatient care.
Awards: Includes the Gratama Grant (2014) and grants supporting research on policing and theology.
