Hetal Buckhurst

Dr Hetal Buckhurst is an Associate Professor in Optometry at the School of Health Professions, University of Plymouth. She has supervised multiple PhD students since 2012, focusing on ocular biomechanics, refractive errors, and vision screening technologies, and leads the myopia control clinics at the Centre for Eyecare Excellence.

• Teaching modules: Geometric and Physical Optics (OPT405), Visual Optics (OPT406), and Clinical Optometry Skills (OPT402)
• Established myopia control clinics at the Centre for Eyecare Excellence since 2018

Her research interests span vision science, including corneal astigmatism correction, anterior segment biomechanics, and computer vision syndrome with smart devices.

As School of Health Professions Senior Tutor (2019-present), she oversees academic governance and serves on the Admissions team (2019-present).
