Dr. Hestia Bavelaar is an Assistant Professor in Art History at the University of Utrecht, where she has worked since 1989. Her research focuses on the globalization of the art world, modern and contemporary art, and gender history, with a particular interest in non-Western art and its influence on academic disciplines. She coordinates the Master's track in Modern and Contemporary Art and supervises bachelor's and master's theses.
