Professor Herbert Kronke is a distinguished legal scholar specializing in Private International Law, Commercial Law, and Arbitration. Currently affiliated with the Faculty of Law at the University of Heidelberg since 1993, he has held significant academic and international roles, including Secretary-General of UNIDROIT (1998–2008) and visiting professorships at Georgetown University, McGill University, and institutions in Brazil, Italy, and the U.S.
- Education: Dr. iur. habil. degree from the University of Trier (1987)
Research Focus: His scholarship spans conflict of laws, international civil procedure, arbitration, company law, and contract law. He has contributed extensively to the harmonization of private and commercial law across jurisdictions.
Non-Academic Engagements: A leading figure in international arbitration, he serves on panels of the ICC, LCIA, CIETAC, and other institutions. His advisory roles include the Max Planck Institute and the Xiamen Academy of International Law.
