Herbert Krimmel

Herbert Krimmel is the Irwin R. Buchalter Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School, having joined the faculty in 1977. He holds a B.S. in Accounting (summa cum laude), J.D., and M.Acc. from the University of Southern California. His research focuses on bioethics and surrogate parenting, with publications addressing constitutional, pragmatic, and child-centered perspectives on surrogacy arrangements.

Research interests span bioethics, legal education reform, and family law policy. His influential 1983 article The Case Against Surrogate Parenting has been widely anthologized and cited in court opinions.
