Dr Henrik Linden is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism, Events and Cultural Industries Management at the University of East London (UEL), affiliated with the Royal Docks School of Business and Law and the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism (IoHT). He joined UEL in 2015, previously working at London Metropolitan University (2010–2015). His expertise spans cultural tourism, destination branding, consumerism, fan cultures, and arts management. A Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA), he holds a PhD from King's College London, an MA from Uppsala University, and a BA from Stockholm University.
Research Interests: Henrik's work focuses on cultural tourism, media representations of art and culture, fan cultures (particularly in relation to popular culture and social media), consumer collecting practices (e.g., vinyl records), and the intersection of cities as sites of consumption. He has explored topics such as the Eurovision Song Contest’s impact on tourism, football fandom, and fashion as a branding tool.
Media Engagement: Henrik frequently contributes expert insights to media outlets like TRT World, The Conversation, and Vice, discussing topics such as Eurovision’s political dimensions, fan cultures, and urban branding. His recent research includes collaborations on consumer collecting practices with Dr Aidan Kelly.
Teaching and Supervision: He teaches modules including 'Culture, Heritage and the Tourist Landscape' and supervises PhD candidates in tourism, events management, and related fields. He encourages applications from students interested in his research areas.
